Scars

New York Laser & Skin Care

Scars form as part of the body’s natural healing process after injury, surgery, or skin inflammation such as acne. While scars are a normal response to tissue repair, they can sometimes become raised, depressed, or uneven in color and texture. Many patients seek treatment to improve the appearance of scars and restore smoother, more uniform skin.

Understanding Scar Formation

Scars develop when the skin produces collagen fibers to repair damaged tissue. Depending on how the skin heals, scars may appear as flat marks, raised areas, or indented depressions in the skin. The type and severity of a scar often depend on factors such as the depth of the injury, location on the body, and individual healing response.

Treatment Options

At New York Laser & Skin Care, Dr. Kauvar utilizes advanced dermatologic techniques to improve the appearance of scars. Treatments may include laser resurfacing, microneedling, and other collagen-stimulating procedures that help refine skin texture and promote smoother healing. With personalized care and modern technology, many scars can be significantly softened and less noticeable over time.
