Acne

New York Laser & Skin Care

Acne is one of the most common dermatologic conditions, affecting individuals of all ages and skin types. It develops when hair follicles become clogged with oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria, leading to inflammation that appears as blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, or deeper cystic lesions. While acne often begins during adolescence, many adults experience persistent or late-onset acne that can impact both skin health and confidence.

Causes and Contributing Factors

Acne can arise from a variety of factors, including excess oil production, hormonal fluctuations, clogged pores, and bacterial growth. Stress, genetics, skincare products, and environmental influences may also contribute to breakouts. Because acne varies widely in severity and cause, a personalized dermatologic evaluation is essential to determine the most effective course of treatment.
