Cellulite

New York Laser & Skin Care

Cellulite is a common cosmetic concern that appears as dimpled or uneven skin, most often affecting the thighs, hips, buttocks, and abdomen. It develops when fibrous connective bands beneath the skin pull downward while underlying fat pushes upward, creating the characteristic “orange peel” texture. Although cellulite is not harmful, many individuals seek treatment to achieve smoother, more refined skin contours.

Understanding the Causes

Cellulite can develop due to a combination of factors, including genetics, hormonal influences, changes in connective tissue, and the distribution of fat beneath the skin. It affects individuals of all body types and is particularly common in women due to differences in skin structure and connective tissue arrangement. Lifestyle factors such as aging, reduced skin elasticity, and circulation changes may also contribute to its appearance.

Treatment Options

At New York Laser & Skin Care, Dr. Kauvar offers advanced treatments designed to improve skin texture and restore smoother contours. Depending on the individual case, treatment may include targeted laser therapies and other collagen-stimulating technologies that help tighten the skin and improve the underlying structure. With a personalized approach, patients can achieve noticeable improvements in skin smoothness and overall tone.
