Skin Cancer

New York Laser & Skin Care

Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer, developing when abnormal skin cells grow uncontrollably. It can appear as new growths, changes in moles, or persistent sores that do not heal. Early detection and treatment are critical, as timely intervention significantly improves outcomes and can prevent more serious complications.

Causes and Risk Factors

Skin cancer is most often caused by prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun or tanning devices. Fair skin, a history of sunburns, family history, and weakened immune systems can further increase risk. Regular self-exams and professional skin checks are essential to identify suspicious lesions early.
